Double glazing

It is unavoidable, the cost of producing power is increasing at an alarming rate and the only way to save is to find cost-cutting methods that will lower usage and save energy. Many people don’t know that as much as 30% of the generated heat is lost through windows which are not properly insulated. With double glazing the cosy, warm air is kept inside by one of the panes, while the exterior window panes, keeps the cold and freezing air out. With no warm air escaping and with no cold air entering the room – it stands to reason that less energy will be needed to keep the room warm and snug.

Unlike single paned glass windows, a window which has two panes of glass also serves as a noise barrier. In this way, any exterior noise is significantly reduced.  The sounds of a busy motorway or roads are muted by a doubled glazed window. By having windows double glazed, not only will energy costs be reduced and the need to use additional power decreased, the home will be made soundproof.

The dual glazed windows are also just as effective in terms of cooling. Since warm or hot air will be kept outside, windows which have dual panes of glass will keep cool air inside the home. With the temperature constant, there is no need to overuse air-conditioning units or fans as the interior temperature will be cool throughout the day. The cost of replacing all single paned windows in the home with double panes may, at first be a deterrent for a number of property owners.

The fact is, however, once the conversation has been made, utility bills will be noticeably less and what’s more the owner who is looking at effective methods to conserve energy will find that double glazing will help to achieve this goal. A home that has dual paned windows will also increase in value.
